Elementary Targeted Services Summer School - Grades K-4

SoWashCo Schools is offering a free three-week summer school program in July for students currently in grades K-4 and who have been identified as needing additional intervention programming for academic progress. 

Students have the opportunity to participate in fun, engaging daily instruction that incorporates shared and independent reading, nonfiction research, cooperative math activities, STEM challenges, and physical activity. Explicit and direct social-emotional skill instruction will focus on three outcomes: Be Strong, Be Kind, and Be Well!

Schedule

July 10-27
Monday-Thursday 
8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Registration

 Families with students invited to attend Targeted Services summer school can register online starting on Wednesday,March 22 at sowashco.org/summer. Participation is not required. 

All registrations must be submitted by 11: 59 p.m. on April 6, 2023. Families will receive additional information through email before the start of SoWashCo Summer.

Locations

Students will attend one of the two sites based on their boundary school.

Students currently attending a school outside their boundary area, or Nuevas Fronteras Spanish Immersion (current grades 2-4) or Valley Crossing Elementary Multiage, will attend the summer school location based on their home address. 

Students currently in grades K-1 attending Nuevas Fronteras Spanish Immersion will attend Hillside Elementary. 

Transportation

Transportation will be available for students who live more than one mile from their assigned summer school site. Summer school bus route information will be available in your Campus Parent Portal account in late June.

Optional Community Education Classes

A variety of Community Education classes are being offered each afternoon at summer school sites at the conclusion of the summer school day. These classes are fee-based. Families who qualify for free or reduced-price meals may request fee assistance to reduce the cost of Community Education classes.

Transportation following community education classes is not provided. Students who attend Kids Club at the conclusion of the summer school day may enroll in Community Education classes, however, no afternoon transportation will be provided to Kids Club sites. Families will need to pick students up promptly at the conclusion of community education class times.
