Two East Ridge High School Seniors Earn U.S. Figure Skating Awards

Kaitlyn Wu and Carissa Dagon with certificates from U.S. Figure SkatingTwo East Ridge High School seniors were recently recognized by U.S. Figure Skating for their commitment to the sport while maintaining their academics. Kaitlyn Wu received a U.S. Figure Skating 2019 Graduating Senior Gold Level Award and Carissa Dagon received a 2019 Graduating Senior Silver Level Award.

The awards are based on their achievement in high school and include Platinum, Gold, Silver or Bronze levels. Selection for this award speaks to a skater’s continued commitment to succeeding in their athletic and academic endeavors.

Both Kaitlyn and Carissa have maintained academic excellence while spending countless hours training and competing. In addition to school, skating and community service, both students work a part-time job.

Kaitlyn plans to attend the University of Wisconsin – Madison in the fall to study Industrial Engineering. She plans to be an intercollegiate skater.

Carissa plans to attend the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities to study Nursing. She plans to continue to skate recreationally.
