South Washington County Schools (SoWashCo Schools) will permanently close the swimming pools at Woodbury Middle School (WMS) and Woodbury High School (WHS) after the 2024-25 boys swimming season is complete.

With the two bond questions' success, SoWashCo Schools now begins the design and planning process for 15 construction projects across the district.

Voters in the South Washington County Schools (SoWashCo Schools) district approved both Bond Question 1 and Bond Question 2 requests. Voters also approved SoWashCo Schools’ request to revoke and replace the Technology Projects Levy.

South Washington County Schools (SoWashCo Schools) is hosting two Community Information Sessions next week about the bond and levy questions that will be on the Nov. 7 ballot.

Early voting (mail-in and in-person) is open from Sept. 22 through Nov. 6. You can vote in person at four convenient Washington County locations Woodbury, Cottage Grove, Stillwater or Forest Lake. You can also vote by absentee ballot.

The School Board in June approved a plan to present SoWashCo Schools' new 5-year facility plan to the community with two bond questions on the Nov. 7 ballot.

Over the next 10 years, more than 3,500 potential new K-12 students are expected to move into the district. Current projections show that 15 schools will be over capacity and we will have a deficit of nearly 2,500 K-12 seats for students by 2031 if we do nothing. To help, SoWashCo Schools will ask voters to consider approval of a $462.6 million bond on Aug. 9, 2022.

Administration presented the final long-range facility package to the school board, preparing to request approval on April 21. 

Based on feedback from the community and a further review of high school capacities, administration has recommended to the Board that we keep the current high school attendance boundaries in place for Newport.
