Kindergarten Enrollment

Kindergarten Enrollment

Welcome, incoming kindergarten parents! Beginning kindergarten is a milestone for you and your child. At South Washington County Schools, we hope to make this transition a smooth one for you and your child.

Kindergarten in South Washington County Schools

In South Washington County Schools kindergarteners will meet new friends, learn routines, develop problem-solving skills and begin building a critical foundation for success in future learning.

As a part of your child’s all-day, every-day kindergarten experience, they will have the opportunity to learn from dedicated educators, including their classroom teacher and specialists in art, music, media and physical education.

Students will be exposed to many different learning experiences in kindergarten that will be appropriate to their age and level of development. These experiences will be presented in a variety of ways in order to introduce, reinforce, extend or master various skills. Your kindergarten student will be immersed in a comprehensive, district-wide curriculum including social & emotional development, language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, health & physical education, music & art education, and media literacy.

The Parent Guide to Kindergarten includes helpful information on kindergarten curriculum, required immunizations, transportation, early childhood screening, and more.
