SCHOOL BOARD MEETING
Thursday, September 26, 2019 / 6:30pm
District Service Center / Cottage Grove, MN

AGENDA
The purpose of this meeting is to consider the following:

1.0 Call to Order; Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a meeting of the School Board of Independent School District 833, South Washington County, was held on Thursday, September 26, 2019. The meeting was called to order by Chair Tracy Brunnette, at 6:30pm at the District Service Center, located at 7362 East Point Douglas Road South, Cottage Grove, Minnesota. School Board Members present were: Tracy Brunnette, Pat Driscoll, Ron Kath, Katie Schwartz, Sharon Van Leer and Michelle Witte. Heather Hirsch was absent. Student Board Representatives, Maya Mehra (WHS), Tracey Miller (PHS) and Hannah Poor (ERHS) were present. Superintendent Keith Jacobus was present.

3.0 Approval of Agenda: It was moved by Sharon Van Leer, seconded by Pat Driscoll to approve the agenda. All in favor, none opposed, motion carried.

6.0 Consent Items: It was moved by Sharon Van Leer to approve the consent agenda, seconded by Katie Schwartz. All in favor, none opposed, motion carried.

10.0 Action Items:

10.1 Approval of Preliminary Levy
Dan Pyan, Director of Finance and Operations 
It was moved by Michelle Witte, seconded by Pat Driscoll to approve the preliminary levy. All in favor, none opposed, motion carried.

10.2 Approval of Worker’s Compensation Insurance Renewal

It was moved by Sharon Van Leer, seconded by Katie Schwartz to approve the renewal. All in favor, none opposed, motion carried.

11.0 Reports and Comments:

11.1 Superintendent’s Report: Dr. Jacobus reported on SPARK.
11.2 Student School Board Representatives Reports:

Tracey Miller  (PHS) reported on their new principal and new Facebook page. They now have a Park Pride Wall with their ICC values and notes from staff to students on the wall. PHS hosted a Hmong information night and their Step Team has upcoming performance.

 Maya Mehra (WHS) reported on the renovations that occurred at WHS over the summer and that they will be hosting the SEC music fest this year. Something new for WHS is that each student has been issued a personal Chromebook, with teachers implementing them into their daily learning. Quizzes and tests on the devices, results in immediate test results. Clubs are actively recruiting members. Football & varsity soccer boys doing well. They started rehearsals for The Adams Family musical.

 Hannah Poor (ERHS) reported they celebrated ERHS 10th year in connection with homecoming, which included a Powder Puff derby, pep fest, expanded parade and the Football game. Chromebooks new this year for ERHS as well, which has been a big transition for students. She noted administration is working with students to develop and implement a New cell phone policy. They also started their fall musical rehearsals for The Drowsy Chaperone. The NHS blood drive is coming up and student recognition night.
