1.0 Call to Order; Roll Call
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a meeting of the School Board of Independent School District 833, South Washington County, was held on Thursday, April 18, 2019. The meeting was called to order by Chair Tracy Brunnette, at 6:30pm at the District Service Center, located at 7362 East Point Douglas Road South, Cottage Grove, Minnesota. School Board Members present were: Tracy Brunnette, Pat Driscoll, Heather Hirsch, Ron Kath, Katie Schwartz, Sharon Van Leer and Michelle Witte. Superintendent Keith Jacobus was present.

2.0 Pledge of Allegiance
3.0 Approval of Agenda
It was moved by Sharon Van Leer, seconded by Heather Hirsch to approve the agenda. All in favor, none opposed, motion carried. 4.0 District Highlights: Agenda item scheduled for the April 25, 2019 meeting.

5.0 Public Comment: Agenda item scheduled for the April 25, 2019 meeting.
6.0 Consent Items:

6.1 Approval of Retirements, Resignations and Terminations
6.2 Approval of Leaves of Absence
6.3 Approval of New Employees/Change of Status
6.4 Approval of Extended Field Trips
It was moved by Sharon Van Leer, seconded by Pat Driscoll to approve the Consent agenda items. All in favor, none opposed, motion carried. 

7.0 Workshop Items:

7.1 Showcase Our Schools Connha Classon, Woodbury Elementary Principal Erin Shadick, Hillside Elementary Principal
7.1 PPT
They highlighted different ways they personalize learning for their students.  

8.0 Information Items:

8.1 Negotiations Update Sharon Van Leer, School Board Treasurer
Ms. Van Leer shared the current status of negotiations. 

9.0 Discussion Items:

9.1 First Reading of Policies 406, 418, 423, 424, 427, 510, 524, 713 Mike Johnson, Assistant Superintendent ***Following this agenda item, public comment will be allowed for policies***

The changes in these polices are updates as recommended by the Minnesota School Board Association and statute. These policies will return on April 25th for approval. Following this agenda item, public comment was allowed for policies, however there was no request to speak on the proposed policy changes. 

10.0 Action Items:

10.1 Approval of Instructional Time for Weather Closure Keith Jacobus, Superintendent
It was moved by Katie Schwartz, seconded by Sharon Van Leer to approved to forgive January 31, 2019, February 20, 2019 and April 11, 2019 for inclement weather closings. All in favor, none opposed, motion carried.

10.2 Approval of Release of Probationary Teachers Kevin Witherspoon, Director of Human Resources
It was moved by Sharon Van Leer, seconded by Katie Schwartz to approve the release. Tracy Brunnette, Pat Driscoll, Heather Hirsch, Ron Kath, Katie Schwartz, Sharon Van Leer and Michelle Witte voted in favor, none opposed, motion carried.

11.0 Reports and Comments:

11.1 Superintendent’s Report
Dr. Jacobus reported on guest speaker Erin Walsh and her presentation on Social Media. 

11.2 School Board Member Reports
Tracy Brunnette attended the ERHS slam dunk contest. Pat Driscoll attended the ERHS Fine arts extravaganza and is working with ERHS Students for the Relay for Life. Ron Kath attended the Listening Session at the Alternative HS and Erin Walsh presentation. Sharon Van Leer attended the NSBA Conference. Michelle Witte commented on the OMS Theater and attended the Equity Alliance Group.
