8 Repairing / Replacing Your Device

8.1 Device Protection Plan

South Washington County Schools recognizes that with the implementation of the Personalization of Learning through Technology (PLT) initiative there is a need to protect the investment by both the District and the family. If electing to participate, the optional Device Protection Plan cost is $30 per device and will be due upon receipt of your student's Device.

The Device protection plan cost will provide protections coverage for accidental damage (drops/spills), cracked screens, theft, vandalism, fire, flood, natural disasters, and power surges due to lightning. The payment is nonrefundable. This annual coverage begins upon receipt of the payment and through the schedule school year.

All repair/claims must be reported to the administrator of your student's school within 72 hours. In case of theft or other criminal acts, a police report, or fire report (in the case of fire), MUST be filed for the protection coverage to be utilized. A copy of the police/fire report must be provided to the Administrator.

Families who waive the Device Protection Plan option will be held responsible for ALL damage to their Devices including, but not limited to: broken screens, cracked or damaged casing or components, damaged ports or buttons, inoperability from jailbreaking, etc. Stolen or lost Devices and/or accessories such as cases, cables and power adapters and will be charged the actual replacement cost.

8.2 Intentional Damage

Students/parents are responsible for full payment of intentional damages to Devices and/or accessories provided by the District. The School District Device Protection Plan DOES NOT cover intentional damage of the Device or accessories. This includes any damage to the iPad while the case is not appropriately on the iPad.
