Gifted Education Cluster Teacher Representatives

Elementary schools have a classroom teacher assigned to be the grade 3-5 cluster teacher representative. This staff member:

  • Advocates for gifted students, cluster philosophy, and gifted services.

  • Receives ongoing professional development and shares information with staff and the principal.

  • Acts as an on-site G/T resource for parents, staff, and principal.

  • Coordinates, guides, and regulates academic challenges at their school.

In addition, there are K-2 staff members who also receive professional development throughout the year with other teachers interested in learning about and advocating for young gifted children.

Middle School

Gifted Education Specialist

The Gifted Coach at Woodbury Middle School is also a Gifted Education Specialist. With her extensive training in gifted education, Ms. McElrath is able to provide support to teachers and other gifted coaches. She has expertise on the unique needs of high ability and gifted students, effective learning environments, instructional strategies, and content design.

Gifted Coach

Each middle school has a teacher responsible for being the coach for gifted students in their school. This staff member is available to focus on students' progress, identify key adult advocates, meet with the students periodically throughout the year and create a foundation to embed gifted education services within the context of middle school philosophy.

The amount of time this staff member has allocated for student case management varies by site as some are also classroom teachers. Middle school counselors are also available to support students and parents.
