About Nutrition Services

Program Overview:
Nutrition Services provides nearly 1,750,000 meals to District 833's more than 18,4000 students every year with the help of over 140 employees. 

Nutrition and Menu Planning:
All menus meet or exceed USDA standards. The breakfast menu consists of whole grains, lean protein, fruit and milk daily. The lunch menu consists of whole grains, lean protein, fruit, vegetables and milk daily. Complete nutrition and allergen information can be found on Nutrislice. 

Fresh Fruits and Vegetables:
All schools have salad bars and provide a wide variety of fresh fruits and vegetables daily. The Farm to School program provides seasonal local produce.

Scratch Cooking:
The district has two central kitchens which produce homemade soups, homemade marinara sauce, muffins, granola, taco meat and sloppy joe meat.
