Non-Discrimination Notice

South Washington County Schools (Independent District 833) does not discriminate on the basis of sex in its education programs or activities and it is required by Title IX of the Education Amendments Act of 1972, and its implementing regulations, not to discriminate in such a manner. The requirement not to discriminate in its education program or activity extends to admission and employment. District 833 is committed to maintaining an education and work environment that is free from discrimination based on sex, including sexual harassment.

The Director of the Department of Human Resources, Abby Baker (651-425-6279 -abaker3@sowashco.org) is the designated Title IX Coordinator and has also been designated to respond to employment-related inquiries regarding the district’s non-discrimination policies. The Assistant Superintendents, Tyrone Brookins (651-425-6208 - tbrookin@sowashco.org), Kelly Jansen (651-425-6203 - kjansen@sowashco.org) and Kristine Schaefer (651-425-6354 - kschaef2@sowashco.org) have been designated to respond to student-related inquiries regarding the district’s non-discrimination policies. The Director of Special Education, Erin McKoy (651-425-7206 - emckoy@sowashco.org) has been designated to respond to inquiries concerning the rights of a student with a disability. Title IX inquiries may also be referred to the Assistant Secretary of the US Office for Civil Rights (OCR).
