Agenda and Minutes
The purpose of this meeting is to consider the following:
1.0 Call to Order: Roll Call: Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a meeting of the School Board of Independent School District 833, South Washington County, was held on Thursday, May 5, 2022. The meeting was called to order by Chair Sharon Van Leer, at 6:30pm at the District Service Center, 7362 East Point Douglas Road South, Cottage Grove, MN 55016. School Board Members present: Melinda Dols, Pat Driscoll, Louise Hinz, Simi Patnaik, Katie Schwartz, Eric Tessmer and Sharon Van Leer. Julie Nielsen was present.
2.0 Pledge of Allegiance
3.0 Approval of Agenda: It was moved by Pat Driscoll, seconded by Melinda Dols to approve the agenda. All in favor, none opposed, motion carried.
4.0 Workshop Items:
4.1 Alternative Learning Programming
Tyrone Brookins, Assistant Superintendent
Nick Falde, SoWashCo Online Principal and Ashley Ruka, Alternative High School Principal shared the differences between an Alternative High School Program and Alternative High School Center. They will return May 19th to seek approval for an Alternative High School Center.

Mr. Falde shared information on the developing school, statistics and plans for the fall.
5.0 Information Items:
5.1 First Reading of Proposed Policy Changes

The policies will return on May 19th for approval. There was no public comment.
6.0 Reports and Comments: Superintendent Nielsen shared how fun the Crestview staff Talent Show was today. She noted Communications is focusing on the informational campaign for the bond and community information sessions will be starting up. She highlighted National Teacher Appreciation week, the work on Strategic Planning, high school plays and the Employee Recognition event. Sharon Van Leer met with the SoWashCo Foundation and talked about summer programming. Katie Schwartz attended a Kindergarten open house. Simi Patnaik attended the PHS Jr Book awards, Iftar event and high schools plays. Melinda Dols attended the 916 Board meeting updates, a MSBA webinar and high school plays. Louise Hinz attended CFAC and Ambassadors and is working on the process for board self-evaluation and superintendent evaluation. Eric Tessmer discussed streaming the workshop meetings in the future.

June 2, 2022 - School Board Workshop Meeting (DSC/6:30 p.m.)
