Agenda and Minutes
The purpose of this meeting is to consider the following:
1.0 Call to Order: Roll Call: Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a meeting of the School Board of Independent School District 833, South Washington County, was held on Thursday, July 15, 2021. The meeting was called to order by Chair Tracy Brunnette, at 3:03pm at the District Service Center, 7362 East Point Douglas Road South, Cottage Grove, MN 55016. School Board Members present: Tracy Brunnette, Melinda Dols, Pat Driscoll, Louise Hinz, Simi Patnaik, Katie Schwartz and Sharon Van Leer. Superintendent Julie Nielsen was present.
2.0 Approval of Agenda: It was moved by Sharon Van Leer and seconded by Louise Hinz to approve the agenda. All in favor, none opposed, motion carried.
3.0 Discussion Items:
3.1 Welcome and Inclusion Activity: AVID Strategy, The Huddle.
3.2 Review Board Meeting Procedures: It was moved to suspend policy 206 and replace it with manner restrictions and procedures for meetings and public comments. Motioned by Pat Driscoll, seconded by Melinda Dols. Six voted against. Katie Schwartz abstained. Motion failed.
Pat Driscoll motioned to adopt time place and manner restrictions and procedures for public school board meetings and public comments due to emergency situations at local school board meetings permitted by emergency powers in Policy 208. Melinda Dols seconded this motion. Six voted in favor, Katie Schwartz abstained. Motion carried.
3.3 Team Building: Top Ten
3.4 Updates on District Work: 2021-22 District Themes, Department Updates, LRFP, Branding and Website.
3.5 Optimistic Closure: Our work is about the students.
4.0 Adjournment: The retreat adjourned at 6:09pm.
