Two SoWashCo Schools Staff Members Named Finalists for Minnesota Teacher of the Year

Two South Washington County Schools (SoWashCo Schools) teachers have been named as finalists for the 2021-22 Minnesota Teacher of the Year Award. 

Younna Eiden-Giel of Park High School and Andrea Welvaert of Cottage Grove Middle School are part of the group of 11 finalists that were chosen from a group of 25 semifinalists.

SoWashCo Schools is the only district this year with two candidates in the running for Teacher of the Year. 

A selection panel will meet again later this month to conduct interviews with each finalist. Education Minnesota will announce the 2022 Minnesota Teacher of the Year at this year’s banquet at the Saint Paul RiverCenter on Sunday, May 1.
