Summer Art Program

Summer Art Program

This summer, more than 40 AVID students from Park and Stillwater Area high schools worked together to create and explore visual arts. By completing the two-week class, each student was awarded a visual arts credit for their high school transcript.

Through the class, students created 2D works including drawings, paintings, collages, and 3D works, including sculptures made of ceramic, packing tape and wire. Students also had the opportunity to reflect on their art-making process by writing an artist statement and assessing the work of their peers. At the end of the program, students curated their own art show for both district’s administration and AVID teachers to see all they had accomplished.

The collaboration between South Washington County Schools and Stillwater Area schools was meant to create new opportunities for students to earn high school credit and build relationships with students in other schools
