The month of May is Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month. To commemorate this month student members of the Asian American Student Associations from East Ridge, Park and Woodbury high schools visited Armstrong, Royal Oaks and Woodbury elementary schools to present on their cultures and heritages.

The high school students shared about the languages, clothing, artifacts and food that are specific to each of their heritages. They also taught the elementary students games and activities that originated in Hmong, Vietnamese, Indian, Korean, Pakistani and Japanese cultures.

“It’s fun to bring our cultures to the next generation,” said Woodbury High School senior Andy Trinh. “The kids asked us really meaningful questions and it's fun seeing them learn something different.”

“Teaching others about our cultures is one way we stay connected with our family traditions,” said Woodbury High School junior Kiana Rohner.
