SoWashCo Schools Four-Year Graduation Rates Continue to Surpass the State Average
The Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) released student graduation rates for 2021. The four-year graduation rate for South Washington County Schools (SoWashCo Schools) continues to surpass the state average with 92% of students graduating on time.
Notably, 100% of Hispanic or Latino students at East Ridge High School graduated within four years, an increase of 10.0 percentage points. Park High Schools also saw an increase for Hispanic or Latino students by 9.0 percentage points and an increase of 8.1 percentage points for English Learner students. Woodbury High school had an increase in graduation rates for Black or African American students by 8.5 percentage points.
The last two years have held a lot of uncertainty for students while dealing with the difficulties of the COVID-19 pandemic. SoWashCo Schools continues to evaluate how best to respond to all challenges and reimagine how to support students.
The MDE Four-Year Graduation Rate is defined and used by the state for accountability purposes. This formula counts the number of students graduating from high school within four years after entering grade nine, as a percent of all students who graduated, dropped out, are continuing high school or have an unknown outcome. Students who transferred into the district are included in this calculation; those who transferred out are not.
