SoWashCo Schools Conducts Music Expo for Students in Grade 5

Last month, students in grade 5 were invited to East Ridge, Park and Woodbury high schools to learn about all the musical opportunities available to them when they enter grade 6. 

The elementary students attended a concert tailored just for them where high school musicians from band, orchestra and choir performed songs and talked about the instruments they use and the unique features of each of them. Students then got a chance to see the instruments up close and even give some of them a try.

The goal of each event was to inspire the students to explore the musical opportunities available to them as they start registering for middle school classes. 

The event was a high note for elementary students, with many of them gaining a better idea of what they would like to pursue in their musical education experience. Music directors will now work with the students to make sure the instrument they select is a good fit for them.
