PHS Band and Orchestra Students Learn and Collaborate with a World-renowned Composer

Park High School (PHS) band and orchestra students had a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet virtually with international composer and guest conductor Soon Hee Newbold.  

Students talked with Ms. Newbold about how she got into music and made a career as a performer, composer, guest conductor, movie director and producer. 

“I am a storyteller, whether through music or movies,” said Ms. Newbold. “I try to tell a good story.” 

The PHS band and orchestra are collaborating together and will perform “A Pirate’s Legend,” composed by Ms. Newbold, at their concert on May 18 at 7 p.m. in the PHS theater.
