Park High School Students Help Restore Native Habitat
Students from Park High School’s IB Biology course participated in hands-on ecology learning at Lake Elmo Park Reserve. In conjunction with Great River Greening and Washington County, students focused on restoring native habitat at the park. Collectively, students helped plant almost 1,800 plants and scattered 32 pounds of seeds. Of those, there were 26 species of native flowering plants and 14 species of native grasses and sedges. Students also helped remove the invasive mustard plant from trails and learned about native birds, including a red-tailed hawk from the Carpenter Nature Center.
