Orange Shirt Day
Orange Shirt Day
SoWashCo Schools recognized Orange Shirt Day on Tuesday, Sept. 30. Staff and students wore orange in recognition and solidarity for our Indigenous communities.
Orange Shirt Day is a significant day of remembrance and education about the history of Indigenous child genocide, forced assimilation and the ongoing impacts of the First Nations (Canada) and Native American (US) residential school system.
We all can play a vital role in healing and justice by learning the history, honoring survivors and supporting Indigenous communities.
