Next School Year Red Rock Elementary Will Change Their Start/End Time

Next School Year Red Rock Elementary Will Change Their Start/End Time

Red Rock Elementary School (RRES) will be changing the school start and end time beginning in Fall for the 2024-25 school year.

As part of South Washington County Schools’ (SoWashCo Schools) ongoing work to provide efficient and sustainable transportation, while addressing the school bus driver shortage, the start time for Red Rock Elementary School students will be adjusted next school year to 9:20 a.m. and dismissal will occur at 3:50 p.m.

SoWashCo Schools operates a three-tier busing system that is based on school start and end times. As our community has grown, the tiers have become unbalanced, putting a strain on the first tier of our transportation system. Many families at RRES over the last couple of years, have been impacted by routes needing to be canceled, due to the driver shortage. By moving the Red Rock school time, we are able to continue to provide the same service to students and families, while reducing the need for eight drivers on both our morning and afternoon routes.

We understand that changes like this will have an impact on your families and wanted to provide you with as much notice as we could. SoWashCo Schools will work to accommodate family schedules during the first year of this change at RRES by assuring space in our Kids Club before and/or after school childcare program for current participating families who sign up by the April 15, 2024 deadline. Families that will be new participants in Kids Club can begin registering on April 22, 2024.

I appreciate your understanding and support as we make this transition to RRES bell times.
