Negotiation Update 2025-26: Update 9

South Washington County Schools (SoWashCo Schools) and the United Teachers of South Washington County (UTSWC) met for their eighth public negotiation session on October 27, 2025.

Prior to the October 27, 2025 meeting, UTSWC and the District have reached the following tentative agreements:

• Union Proposal B - Secondary Teachers & Combination Classes
• Union Proposal C - Paid Absence Leave - Religious Holidays
• Union Proposal D - Union or Government Leave
• Union Proposal N - CTOSA & TOSA MOA updates and renewal
• Union Proposal N - Asynchronous Days MOA updates and renewal
• Union Proposal N - High School Homeroom/Advisory MOA renewal
• Union Proposal N - Non-Student Days Contact MOA renewal
• Union Proposal N - Unrequested Leaves of Absence MOA renewal
• Union Proposal N - Emergency Medical Pool MOA renewal
• Union Proposal N - SoWashCo Online High School updates and renewal
• Union Proposal N - Attachment III updates
• District Proposal 2 - Basic Schedules & Rates of Pay - Comp Time
• District Proposal 3 - Basic Schedules and Rates of Pay, Extracurricular Activities language clean-up
• District Proposal 8 - Leaves of Absence - Long Term language clean-up
• District Proposal 10 - SoWashCo Online High school

Tentative Agreements reached during the October 27, 2025 meeting:

• Union Proposal A - Recognized College or University
• Union Proposal F -Hours of Service, Additional Activities

The current open proposals were discussed:

• Union Proposal G - Absences Because of Student Assault
• Union Proposal H - Preschool Teachers
• Union Proposal J - Stipend for Supervision
• Union Proposal K - Class Size and Caseload
• Union Proposal P - Personal Business Day Cash Out
• Union Proposal S - Minnesota Paid Medical Leave
• Union Proposal W - Wages & Benefits
• Union Proposal X - Schedule C Addition

After the District provided responses to the open proposals, UTSWC stated they would be filing for mediation.  The district received notice on October 30, 2025 that UTSWC officially filed for mediation with the Bureau of Mediation Services.

The District and UTSWC will continue to meet to negotiate prior to mediation being scheduled.

The next negotiation session between SoWashCo Schools and UTSWC is scheduled for Thursday, November 20.
