Negative Meal Charge Policy

Negative Meal Charge Policy

At the Aug. 25 school board meeting, the board approved a policy to address negative meal accounts. The policy is a new requirement from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), which oversees school meals. This simply puts our current practices into school board policy to meet the USDA requirement. Please review the policy to see how negative meal charges are handled throughout the school year.

As a reminder, school breakfast and lunches will no longer be free for all students due to the expiration of federal USDA waivers. Students will be charged based on eligibility for free and reduced-priced meals. Families can complete an Application for Educational Benefits form (free and reduced-priced meals) and if you qualify, both breakfast and lunch will be free.
