Kindergarten Families Invited to Embrace Their Inner Child

Kindergarten families at Liberty Ridge Elementary School (LRES) were invited to embrace their inner child at the annual “Donuts with Grown-Ups” event.

Parents, grandparents, and guardians were invited into kindergarten classrooms for a morning filled with smiles, sprinkles and meaningful connection.

As families settled into tiny chairs and gathered around classroom tables, they quickly became students themselves. Teachers guided them through the daily routines that shape a kindergartener’s experience, from morning meetings and calendar time to early literacy and hands-on activities. Grown-ups had the opportunity to see firsthand how foundational skills are taught in engaging, age-appropriate ways.

Teachers shared ways families can support learning at home, reinforcing that education is a team effort. Whether it’s singing songs, reading together each night, or simply asking about their child’s day, these small moments build confidence and strengthen student success.

For students, having their grown-ups present in the classroom was a moment of pride. Students had the chance to show off their work, introduce their friends and demonstrate classroom routines.

“Donuts with Grown-Ups” is one of the district’s many celebrations of partnership and connection, building a strong foundation for a supportive and engaged school community.
