Indigenous Senior Honoring
Indigenous Senior Honoring
Earlier this month, Indigenous students who will be graduating next month were honored in a special ceremony at Belwin Conservancy’s Savanna Center.
This special tradition honors these students for reaching their first major milestone in life, high school graduation. As their first major accomplishment into adulthood, they are awarded with their first eagle feather, an extremely high honor among the Indigenous community. The ceremony also involves smudging, a feast, the gifting of a cultural stole and the wrapping of star quilt with an honor song by Imnížaská inter-tribal drum group.
