Last fall a group of 9th-grade students from Park High School (PHS) created books for the students of Crestview Elementary (CES). This spring, several CES students wanted to return that act of creative kindness to their high school counterparts.

Fourth-graders in Ms. Bebeau, Ms. Fenske and Ms. Mac’s rooms wrote and illustrated non-fiction books about animals. The students then took a “walking field trip” across the street to PHS and read their books to the high school students.

“They were excited to show off their books,” said Bebeau. “It made the kiddos feel amazing.”

The student authors of PHS and CES have created a lasting collaboration between the two schools which has helped amplify the students’ potential and create a more interconnected learning space.
