AVID Student Speaker- Chicago AVID Summer Institute 2025

Maddie Horton has been selected as an AVID Student Speaker at the AVID Summer Institute in Chicago 2025, a prestigious opportunity that reflects her dedication and growth throughout her six years in the AVID program. Currently a senior at Park High School, Maddie has been an AVID student for three years at the high school level, building on the foundation she established in middle school. Her journey through AVID has not only helped her excel academically but has also significantly boosted her confidence and social skills. The program’s structured support, collaborative learning environment, and college readiness focus have played a pivotal role in shaping her into the eager and engaged student she is today.

Being selected as a national speaker is an incredible honor for Maddie, as it allows her to express her deep gratitude for the program that has given her so much. She is excited to share her story and inspire other students by highlighting how AVID has transformed her academic path and personal growth. Looking ahead, Maddie plans to attend the University of St. Thomas, where she will major in either Psychology or Education. With a strong passion for learning and helping others, she hopes to use her experiences to empower future students, just as AVID has empowered her.
