2025-26 National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists

13 high school students from SoWashCo Schools are named semifinalists for the National Merit Scholarship.

In order to be named one of the 16,000 semifinalists, these students must have an outstanding academic high school record, be endorsed and recommended by a high school official, write an essay and earn high scores on the SAT or ACT.

There are three types of National Merit Scholarships awarded to students who make it to the final round:

• 2,500 will receive $2,500 National Merit Scholarships
• 830 will receive corporate-sponsored National Merit Scholarships
• 3,600 will receive college-sponsored National Merit Scholarships

Winners will be announced beginning in April and concluding in July 2026.
