Information on summer construction projects

In November 2013, district residents passed a referendum to provide funding to enhance security at all district schools. During the summer of 2016, three more elementary schools will receive the final phase of enhanced security to their entryways similar to what has occurred over the past two years at other district schools.

Cottage Grove, Liberty Ridge and Red Rock elementary schools are the remaining elementary schools to receive the secure entryways. The new secure entryways will require all visitors to enter the main office of the school and check in with a staff member before they are granted access to the school. This summer those three schools, Cottage Grove, Liberty Ridge and Red Rock elementary schools, will receive these entryways with a targeted completion date at the start of the 2016-17 school year.

Already in place, and aligned with other district schools are the updated camera systems, interior classroom door locks, laminated safety glass in vestibules and classroom doors and card access to expedite police response.

In addition, School Board recently approved changing the last day of school for students at Bailey, Grey Cloud and Middleton elementary schools from June 10, 2016 to June 9, 2016 to provide time for staff to prepare for the HVAC replacement construction that will be taking place at these schools over the summer of 2016.

The entire contents of these schools must be packed and moved into storage trailers in order for construction to begin on Monday, June 14. Time is of the essence with this project in order to ensure that construction is completed in time for school to begin in September.

Any questions about these upgrades can be directed to school principals or to the Facilities Department at 651-425-6294.
