District 833 is pleased to announce Rich Romano as the next Newport Elementary Principal. He is currently the principal at the district’s Crestview and Nuevas Fronteras Elementary Schools.

The School Board met on Tuesday, with the following actions occurring:

Aaron Krueger, Newport Elementary Principal for the past four years, has accepted a position as an elementary principal for the Osseo Public Schools.

Thanks to a $10,000 3M Ingenuity grant, sixth grade students at Oltman Middle School will be tackling a real-world problem as part of a project-based learning program being developed at Oltman. Students

The School Board is scheduled to meet at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 16, with the following items on the agenda:

The School Board held a Special Meeting on July 8 to continue the discussion on a possible levy for the November 2013 election.

Park High School administration has learned of the formation of a new conference and is having preliminary conversations about the possibility of joining that conference and leaving the SEC.

Roderic (Eric) VanScoy has been approved to fill the assistant principal vacancy at Lake Middle School. VanScoy will begin his administrative duties on July 1, 2013.

The School Board has scheduled a Special Meeting on Monday, July 8, at 6:30 p.m. for the purpose of continuing the discussion on a possible levy for November Election 2013.

Cottage Grove Elementary recently donated $1,000 to the City of Cottage Grove to be used towards the inclusive playground the city is currently planning.
