Hennepin Theatre Trust has announced that East Ridge and Woodbury High Schools are included in the fall 2013 honorees recognizing theatre accomplishments by Minnesota schools and students participating in the 2013-14 SpotLight Musical Theatre Program.

  • Students in Woodbury High School’s AVID program took time this fall to look for needs in the community that they could help address.

The School Board is scheduled to meet at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 9, with the following items on the agenda:

In a press release on Friday, Jan. 3, the Governor announced the closure of all public schools in the state on Monday, Jan. 6.

ExCEL (Excellence in Community, Education and Leadership) is a unique recognition program designed exclusively for Minnesota high school juniors who are active in school activities, show leadership qualities, volunteer in their communities, and are model citizens.

Three District 833 middle school teachers were recently awarded STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) grants from HB Fuller, totaling $23,269.

Students in East Ridge High School’s Project Lead the Way Biomedical Sciences program donated $815 to purchase supplies for children in Delhi, India.

Winter break in District 833 begins at the end of the school day today, Friday, Dec. 20. School will resume on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014.

The School Board met on Thursday, Dec. 19, with the following items on the agenda:

Red Rock Elementary students, families and teachers had the chance to meet Everson Griffen, defensive end for the Minnesota Vikings, at the school’s Wendy’s Night on Dec. 10.
