Students from Park and South Washington Alternative high schools had the opportunity to explore a variety of career options at Renewal by Andersen recently. The company hosted a Career Day for several nearby high schools on Wednesday, Feb. 28.

Students spent their day at the Cottage Grove campus learning from professionals. The day started with students meeting in large groups to learn about the workplace, innovation, engineering and manufacturing environments by designing and producing a working catapult. Later, students met with professionals from the customer service, engineering, finance, human resources, marketing, supply chain, technology and production departments.

All students learned about career options for high school graduates, as well as for those with trade, 2- or 4-year degrees.

"We are thankful to Renewal by Andersen for partnering with the district to provide learning opportunities for our students,” said Jodi Witte, who helped coordinate the event. “Our students walked away from the experience with a greater understanding for their career choices after completing high school.”

Renewal by Andersen is a growing company located in Cottage Grove that offers living wage jobs, benefits and tuition reimbursement at all entry points. They also offer career advancement opportunities for all education levels.
