WHS AFJROTC cadets visit MN Air National Guard during aviation unit

The AFJROTC cadets from Woodbury High School visited the 133rd Air Lift Wing at the Minnesota Air National Guard (ANG) base on Dec. 13 as part of their “Aviation History” unit.  While at the base, the cadets received briefings from several ANG agencies describing their job and experiences. Students also had the unique opportunity to ride in one of the unit’s C-130 cargo planes, interact with the flight crew, spend time in the cockpit with the pilots, interact with the medical crew, and discuss the flight, the plane, and its mission.  It was a wonderful day for a flight and a great way to witness their “curriculum in action.”

While flying to the South Shore of Lake Superior and back, the cadets were presented with fantastic views of the coast. Three cadets, who’ve never flown on a plane before, were allowed to sit in the cockpit for takeoff and landing.  It was a great experience for the cadets and one of the many interesting opportunities the AFJROTC cadets at Woodbury High School receive.
