State Representative Tony Jurgens visited four of District 833’s schools on Thursday, Jan. 25 with Superintendent Keith Jacobus. They visited Armstrong Elementary School, Hillside Elementary School, Cottage Grove Middle School and Park High School.

At each school, the principal talked with Jurgens about some of the educational opportunities for students and shared their plans to expand opportunities in the future.

“As a member of the House K-12 Education Finance Committee, it's helpful to visit the schools and see our teachers and students in action,” said Jurgens. “I was pleased to be able to see students from Pre-K through high school, and I thank Superintendent Jacobus and other South Washington County Schools staff for the very informative tour.”

Students also had a chance to talk to Jurgens, including one Hillside Elementary first grader who took the time to show off Seesaw, an online platform that allows parents to see and experience what students are working on in class.

“We are always glad to see our local lawmakers take an interest in education. I was happy to show Rep. Jurgens all of the wonderful things happening inside of our schools,” said Superintendent Keith Jacobus.

Jurgens was elected to represent district 54B, which includes Cottage Grove in 2016.
