South Washington County Schools offering free summer meals to all students

South Washington County Schools is excited to offer all of its students free breakfast and lunch, regardless of need, throughout the summer months. The meals are a time for the community to gather and have fun.

Meals will be served at Park High School and Newport Elementary School every weekday starting on June 12 and continuing through August 24. Breakfast will be available between 8:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. Lunch will be available between 11:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. At Newport Elementary School, students are invited to play on the playground before and after their meals.

All families in South Washington County are also invited to check-out District 833’s CESkoolie Bus, which will be out in our communities every Monday-Thursday between June 18 and ending August 23. The bus will bring evening activities and free food for kids. See the full list of stops here.

The new summer programming and meals through the CESkoolie Bus are part of a “No Kid Hungry” pilot project, being implemented in partnership with South Washington County Schools, Second Harvest Heartland, Share Our Strength and a bipartisan hunger caucus of our state legislators. The goal of the project is to create a model for other school districts that will eliminate child hunger. Learn more about the No Kid Hungry Initiative.
