South Washington County Schools hires new South Washington Alternative High School Principal

South Washington County Schools is pleased to announce that Nick Falde has accepted the position of Principal at South Washington Alternative High School (SWAHS). Falde will begin his position with the District on July 5, 2018, after receiving School Board approval on June 21. 

Falde previously worked with South St. Paul Public Schools as the Assistant Principal of the Community Learning Center. In this role, he oversaw alternative programs including Online Academy, Ignite Program, Flex Program, Day Program, After School Credit Recovery, 9-12 Summer Credit Recovery and Summer Accelerated Math Program. He has also presented on technology use in the alternative setting at the 2017-18 Minnesota Association of Alternative Programs Annual Conference.

Superintendent Keith Jacobus said, "I am excited to welcome Nick to South Washington County Schools. His expertise with alternative learning pathways and online learning technologies will be a great resource at South Washington Alternative High School, as we work to continue to personalize learning for each student."

Before working at South St. Paul Public Schools, Falde worked as a Technology Integration and Online Learning Coordinator for Roseville Area Schools, where he helped usher in a Districtwide 1:1 iPad initiative, lead a curriculum review process for K-12 Media Specialists and improved the online learning network at Roseville Area High School through a multi-district initiative.

Falde also worked at Mahtomedi Public Schools, where he gained experience in numerous roles including serving as a Coordinator for the Digital Learning Academy, Work Experience/Transition Services and Online Summer School. He says he is looking forward to joining the South Washington Alternative High School team to enhance the quality of diversified educational programming.

"I am blessed to have the opportunity to be a part of South Washington County Schools and specifically the South Washington Alternative High School. What excites me most about this role is the connections I want to build with students, staff, families and the community as a whole. I look forward to helping ignite a passion for lifelong learning in the role of South Washington Alternative High School's Principal," said Falde.

He holds licenses as a K-12 Principal and in Work Based Learning, as well as, a Master of Arts in Differentiated Instruction from Concordia University and a Bachelor of Science in Hotel, Restaurant & Tourism Management from the University of Wisconsin – Stout.

Falde is replacing Michael Mahaffey, who is retiring from his role as Principal at South Washington Alternative High School after working with the District for 32 years.
