Hennepin Theatre Trust has announced that East Ridge and Woodbury High Schools are included in the fall 2013 honorees recognizing theatre accomplishments by Minnesota schools and students participating in the 2013-14 SpotLight Musical Theatre Program.

In a press release on Friday, Jan. 3, the Governor announced the closure of all public schools in the state on Monday, Jan. 6.

Hillside Elementary School offered its first Kids EdCamp on Friday, Jan. 3, using a model similar to what has been introduced to District 833 staff through professional development opportunities.

3M Cottage Grove recently invited District 833 high school students into their successful international company to observe operations and talk to staff.

Red Rock Elementary students, families and teachers had the chance to meet Everson Griffen, defensive end for the Minnesota Vikings, at the school’s Wendy’s Night on Dec. 10.

The School Board met on Thursday, Dec. 19, with the following items on the agenda:

Winter break in District 833 begins at the end of the school day today, Friday, Dec. 20. School will resume on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014.

Students in East Ridge High School’s Project Lead the Way Biomedical Sciences program donated $815 to purchase supplies for children in Delhi, India.

Three District 833 middle school teachers were recently awarded STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) grants from HB Fuller, totaling $23,269.

ExCEL (Excellence in Community, Education and Leadership) is a unique recognition program designed exclusively for Minnesota high school juniors who are active in school activities, show leadership qualities, volunteer in their communities, and are model citizens.
