East Ridge, Park and Woodbury high schools have advanced to the section finals of the One Act play competition, earning three of the four spots over two days of competition.

The Academics, Arts and Athletics (Triple A) Award is awarded to high school seniors who have a B or better grade point average and who participate in League-sponsored athletic and fine arts activities.

Woodbury High School is seeking people who are employed in the areas of agriculture, food and natural resources, as well as engineering, manufacturing and technology to serve as speakers at their annual Career Day on Thursday, Feb. 20.

Newport Elementary School held a Cultural Arts Festival on Thursday, Jan. 23 as a way for students to learn about the world’s many cultures.

District 833 Chinese language students and staff presented China Night on Jan. 30, which was the Chinese New Year’s Eve.

Logan Carstensen (Science, Lake Middle School), Donna Lloyd (Kindergarten, Woodbury Elementary), and Alissa Hill (Second Grade, Nuevas Fronteras Spanish Immersion) have been named candidates for Education Minnesota’s Minnesota Teacher of the Year.

The School Board is scheduled to meet at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 6, with the following items on the agenda:

PreK Information Nights are scheduled for Monday, Feb. 3, from 6-7 p.m. at Central Park (8595 Central Park Place, Woodbury) and Thursday, Feb. 6, from 6-7 p.m.

The South Washington County School District will be closing school on Tuesday, Jan. 28. This is due to the continued wind chill warning through the National Weather Service.
