Park High School names new head football coach

Rick Fryklund has been hired as the new football coach at Park High School. He takes over for Darin Glazier, who resigned from that position this fall.

Glazier served as the head coach of the football program since 2011. During his tenure Park has accumulated a total of 32 wins. The football team was section runner-up in 2016.

“Coach Glazier brought renewed enthusiasm and success to our football program. He helped changed the culture of Park football. I appreciate all that he has done for our student-athletes,” said Phil Kuemmel, Activities Director.

Fryklund comes to Park after serving as a long-time assistant coach at St. Thomas Academy. He most recently served as their defensive coordinator, and the Cadets’ defensive unit was consistently ranked in the top five in both Class 5A and the metro area for points
allowed per game under his leadership.

“We had many quality candidates apply for the job, but Rick stood out for many reasons. His passion for this position was evident, and his knowledge of the sport and the factors that contribute to a quality high school program were a huge plus,” said Kuemmel. “I know the entire community is excited to start this new chapter of Wolfpack football.”

The Park Football Booster Club is planning a Meet and Greet for Coach Fryklund with a date and time to be announced.
