Musician visits Armstrong Elementary

On Wednesday, Feb. 28, local author and musician Dennis Warner visited students at Armstrong Elementary. He entertained students with music and stories from his book titled “Beads on One String.” Warner’s songs and stories revolve around the topics of inclusiveness, kindness and anti-bullying.

Students prepared for the event by reading Warner’s book in their classrooms, learning the songs in music class and creating their own personalized “bead” in art class. The beads will be put together to string up around the school.

“Mr. Warner was energetic and had the students captivated from start to finish. He did a great job weaving in topics of friendship, acceptance and kindness among more lighthearted songs,” said Mallory Martin, Music Specialist at Armstrong Elementary. “The students were singing along and swaying with their arms around their friends. It was a truly touching moment.”

Warner’s visit to Armstrong Elementary School was made possible by a grant from the St. Croix Valley Foundation.
