East Ridge High School’s Speech Team excels in national competition

Five East Ridge High School students placed in the top 15 for their categories at the National Individual Events Tournament of Champions (NIETOC) in Denver May 11-13.

More than 900 competitors from around the country took part in the tournament, with eight members from East Ridge qualifying to take part. All East Ridge students finished in the top 60. The following students placed in the top 15 for their events:

  • Tre’ Edgerton – 2nd place in Original Oratory
  • Jayden Ogbodo – 3rd place in Poetry
  • Tony May – 5th place in Humorous Interpretation
  • Gabby Franus – 8th place in Humorous Interpretation
  • Makehba Nelson – 11th place in Original Oratory

East Ridge High School’s team ranked third in the nation overall in the large school division.
