District 833 students share love of music at SEC Music Festival
On Monday, February 6, the top bands, choirs and orchestras from East Ridge, Park, and Woodbury high schools joined together with six other Minnesota schools for the Suburban East Conference Music Festival.
As part of the festival, students worked with three prominent music clinicians, polished their musical skills and listened to performances by their peers from other schools. The SEC Music Festival concluded with an evening concert featuring the All-Conference band, choir and orchestra.
"Every year, I am amazed by the level of musicianship represented by the students and directors at the SEC Music Festival. My students look forward to the festival each year as an avenue to grow as musicians, perform for their peers and listen to other schools' performances,” Park High School Director of Choirs Ben O’Connor said.
“On behalf of the students and directors of the SEC member schools, we thank the Suburban East Conference for sustaining this quality event and allowing these young musicians to have the opportunity to learn from such amazing clinicians."
Guest clinicians included Dr. Lee Nelson from Wartburg College, Dr. Travis Cross from UCLA and Roderick Cox from the Minnesota Orchestra. Congratulations to all participants on a successful event!
