District 833 staff volunteer for the Super Bowl

South Washington County Schools is proud to celebrate staff members who have gone above and beyond to welcome football fans from around the world to our great state. Several district employees have volunteered their free time over the 10 days leading up to the Super Bowl to work with Crew 52.

Crew 52 is a volunteer group organized by the Super Bowl Host Committee. The group of 10,000 volunteers is tasked with helping in various ways as the state opens its doors to football fans.

Below are some of the district employees who are a part of Crew 52, along with how they are volunteering and why they wanted to volunteer:

Darcy Bertram – Darcy is a Skills Support paraprofessional at Bailey Elementary School. 
Crew 52 role:  Volunteer Headquarters 
Why you wanted to volunteer: Super Bowl is a once in a life time opportunity. I enjoy volunteering and wanted to be an ambassador for Minnesota where I could welcome people from all over the world to our great state!

Rani Karasch – Rani is a High Needs/Resource and Crossing Guard paraprofessional at Bailey Elementary and a Kids Club paraprofessional at Crestview Elementary. 
Crew 52 role:  Super Bowl Live
Why you wanted to volunteer: I wanted to volunteer for Super Bowl 52 because this is a once in a lifetime opportunity. I am all about crowds and fun! It’s been fun helping show the world why we choose to live in Minnesota!

Debbie Martin-Grimmer – Debbie is a Lunchroom paraprofessional at Lake Middle School and a Kids Club paraprofessional at Royal Oaks Elementary. 
Crew 52 role: Volunteer Headquarters
Why you wanted to volunteer:  I believe in volunteering. This is probably the only opportunity I would have to do this and I’ve met some great new people!

Janette McCalvy – Janette is a Lunch/Recess paraprofessional at Armstrong Elementary and a Kids Club paraprofessional at both Armstrong and Crestview Elementary Schools. 
Crew 52 role:  Super Bowl Live 
Why you wanted to volunteer: I volunteered because it's one of my favorite things to do! I also wanted to share the pride we have in our beautiful state of MN.  

Patti Troendle – Patti is an HR Specialist at the District Service Center.
Crew 52 role: Skyway Host
Why you wanted to volunteer: I applied to volunteer because I love football, Minnesota and meeting new people.
