District 833 announces new boys golf coach at Woodbury High School

Shawn Mahady

District 833 is pleased to announce that Shawn Mahady has been selected as the new head coach for the Woodbury High School Boys Golf program. Mahady takes over for Kent Getzlaff who resigned this fall to spend more time on other commitments.

Coach Mahady has served as an assistant coach for Woodbury High School’s Boys Golf team for the past three years. Mahady was formerly a student athlete himself. He was a standout athlete in high school, earning All-Conference honors in boys golf for three years and led his conference in scoring during his senior year. Mahady went on to play golf at the University of Minnesota.

“We are extremely excited about having Coach Mahady lead our Boys Golf Program,” said Marvin Wooten, Activities Director at Woodbury High School. “During the interview process, he continued to stress the importance of providing a positive experience for our student-athletes. His passion for the sport was evident from the moment he stepped into the room.”

Mahady has a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Microbiology from the University of Minnesota, is a Regional Manager for the Do It Best Corporation and has a son who attends Woodbury High School.
