Hundreds of people attended the Third Annual SoWashCo CARES Winter Pack event on Wednesday, Nov. 14 at Oltman Middle School. Throughout the evening, guests packed more than 7,500 meals and snacks which will help more than 300 students. The food packs will be given to families for use over winter break.

Attendees also each donated $5 to attend the event, which will go to help fund future food packs.

In addition to the packing portion of the event, families had the opportunity to learn more about community organizations including:

  • SoWashCo CARES
  • Christian Cupboard Emergency Food Shelf
  • Friends in Need
  • Stone Soup Thrift Shop
  • Youth Service Bureau
  • Woodbury Rotary
  • Big Brothers/Sisters
  • GIFTS (Gals in Faith Together Serving)

Cheryl Jogger, founder of SoWashCo CARES said, “We are always amazed by the overwhelming response from our community! People are so generous. Families come ready to work and they get the job done. It’s our community helping our community!”

The night was a partnership between numerous different organizations and contributors, including District 833 staff and students. Thank you to Cottage Grove Police and Fire, Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Cottage Grove Lions, Oltman Middle School staff and students, District 833 School Board members for their help with the event.
