District “taking the next steps” following 2015 Bond Referendum

District 833 is moving forward with improvements to schools across the district after successful passage of the $96 million bond referendum in November 2015. The chart below highlights the work to be completed over the next few years as a new Oltman Middle School is built and improvements are made to the other middle schools in the district.

Below is the timeframe for projects to be completed, with expanded information on each project available through the links on the left side of this page.

Fall 2015

  • Levy and bond referendum approved

Winter 2016

  • North elementary attendance boundaries redrawn
  • Purchase land for new Oltman Middle School 
  • Form middle school planning team

Spring 2016

  • Design the new Oltman Middle School & all other middle school additions and improvements

Summer 2016

  • District takes ownership of Valley Crossing
  • Security upgrades to three more elementary schools

Fall 2016

  • Construction begins for new Oltman Middle School

Winter 2017 

  • Design work begins for Nuevas Fronteras building remodel
  • Redraw south elementary attendance boundaries 

Spring 2017 

  • Construction begins on improvements/additions at Cottage Grove Middle School, Lake Middle School and Woodbury Middle School
  • Redraw middle school attendance boundaries

Summer 2017

  • Ongoing construction of all middle school projects

Fall 2017

  • Cottage Grove and Lake middle school improvements complete
  • Levy referendum to support district operations

Summer 2018

  • Nuevas Fronteras remodel begins

Fall 2018

  • New Oltman Middle School and Woodbury Middle School addition open
  • Nuevas Fronteras (phase 1) opens

Spring 2019

  • Nuevas Fronteras (phase 2) opens
