Washington County conducted a recount of District 833’s recently approved bond referendum on Friday, Nov.

The School Board met on Thursday, Nov. 19, with the following items on the agenda:

South Washington County Schools has set Tuesday, Nov. 24 as the opportunity for the public to hear an update on the World’s Best Workforce in District 833.

Billy Menken, an eighth grader in Cottage Grove Middle School’s Spanish Immersion program, was recently honored at an international awards ceremony sponsored by the Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth.

The City of Woodbury presented Red Rock Elementary with an Environmental Excellence Award for the school’s milk carton recycling program in the category of Waste Reduction and Recycling.

South Washington County Schools recently received a $10,000 grant for Supporting Young Mathematics Scholars through America’s Farmers Grow Rural Education, sponsored by the Monsanto Fund.

Park High School junior Victoria Albin was honored at BestPrep’s Educational Forum on Nov. 10 as the third place winner of a statewide essay competition.

The previous request submitted by Cottage Grove resident Mike Fouts was withdrawn because it did not contain the complete documentation required. Today, Cottage Grove resident Bev Moreland submitted the required documentation and number of signatures required to conduct a recount.

Passing with a narrow margin, a recount has been requested for the district's recently approved bond referendum.
