District News

The School Board met on Thursday, May 26, with the following items on the agenda:

Woodbury High School has announced the selection of Aaron Pozzini as an assistant principal beginning July 1, pending approval by the School Board.

On May 19, School Resource Officer Stacey Krech visited with students in computer applications classes at Lake Middle School to discuss social media awareness and Internet safety.

East Ridge High School senior Karina Joiner and Park High School senior Michael Griffin were recognized as St. Paul Lions Club Athlete of the Year Finalists at the 72nd Annual Athletes of the Year recognition and awards banquet.

Washington County Workforce Center, South Washington County Schools’ ACCESS Program, and Century College celebrated the graduation of 20 students from the Pathways to Prosperity program on May 12.

District 833 is pleased to announce that Connha Classon has been selected as the next principal for Woodbury Elementary School beginning July 1. Classon has served as the school’s interim principal since October 2015.

The Woodbury Middle School band program was recently awarded a $2,000 St. Croix Valley Foundation Music Education Grant that provided the opportunity for students to work with a composer in residence.

Pine Hill Elementary hosted the school’s first-ever outdoor Disney concerts on Wednesday, May 18 in an effort to bring students and families together to celebrate music and the magical world of Disney.

Seven students from South Washington County Schools have been named 2016 Scholars of Distinction by the Minnesota Department of Education.

At the District 833 School Board meeting on May 12, Woodbury High School senior Taylor Nelson learned that she was selected as one of two recipients of the 2016 Minnesota School Boards Association’s Student School Board Member Scholarship.
