Voter Registration

Residents must be registered to vote to be eligible to vote in this election. Residents who have not previously registered to vote, who have not voted in the past four years, who will turn 18 on or before Election Day, or who have moved or changed their name since the last election will need to register to vote.

The Minnesota Secretary of State's Office has a website for voters to verify if they are already registered to vote.

To be eligible to register and vote in Minnesota you must:

  • Be a citizen of the United States;
  • Be at least 18 years old on Election Day;
  • Have resided in Minnesota for 20 days immediately preceding Election Day;
  • Have any felony conviction record discharged, expired or completed;
  • Not be under court-ordered guardianship where a court has revoked your voting rights;
  • Not have been ruled legally incompetent by a court of law.

Voters are encouraged to register before Election Day to save time at the polling place:

Voters can also register on Election Day with the proper proof of residence.
